Pumpkins And Puppies and Pies, Oh My!

cole-pumpkin.jpg

If you’ve been checking in on The Houndstooth Gourmet lately, you will have noticed the lack of posting over past couple of weeks. I’ve been up in Philadelphia with my mom as she recovers from surgery, and it could take a little while before I’m back home and in the blogging groove.

Please stay tuned for occasional updates from Philly, with perhaps, an occasional dish on cheesesteaks, roast pork and schmitter sandwiches, matzoh ball soup or just some scenery that I want to share. With the time I have on my hands now, I have been making great plans to bring you even better posts with fabulous photos, farmers market updates and news about the Alexandria food and dining scene.

In the meantime, keep baking, cooking and blogging with all of the great fall bounty at the markets!

  1. Love the pic!! I hope your mom has a speedy recovery.

  2. Thanks, Susan!

  3. Sorry to hear about your mother. In Philadelphia, definitely check out Capogiro for gelato. Seasonal flavors that change with the day. Absolutely spectacular. Worth driving into the city, and it might be a treat for someone recovering!

And the El Vez Mexican restaurant across from the original Capogiro is great fun as well. If you have to drive into the city, it would make a nice lunch and then carry a 2-3 pints of gelato back home to your mom!

  5. Thanks HowChow! I love Capagiro and I hope to get into Center City for some eats you can only get in Philly!
